i am looking for reasonable priced driving lessons is it true its more expensive to learn in an automatic?

anyone got a rough idea how much per lesson i should be paying i live in the merseyside area
Learning in an automatic is excellent for people who simply don’t get on with gears. These days there are plenty of automatic cars and you’re only likely to need a manual licence if you are borrowing someone else’s car or hiring a van – how often do you do either of those?!
The lessons are normally one or two pounds higher than a manual – although, like the contributor above, I don’t charge any more for automatic. The extra is supposedly for higher cost of buying the vehicle and higher insurance – both pretty silly reasons.

just a hint dont learn in an automatic!! then when you pass your test you will have to do lessons just to drive an manual!
The only reason it is more expensive for automatic is because driving schools pay a higher insurance for a sceond car, make sure you go to an independent driving school and not one of the muliples, I cahrge the same price as a manual which is £20.00 and that is in Kent, prices may differ in other parts of the country.

yeah its more expensive because in theory you would need less lessons and the driving school doesn’t want to loose any more money than need be.
just dont go with BSM.. it cost me a lip quivering £20 per hour and they say you HAVE to book 2 hour lessons because they charge you the price to travel from your house to the practise area and from the practise area back to your house again..and i still have no licence
they should be no more than 20 quid, use a well known company, and dont only learn in a auto, gears r easy to pick up, once u passed your test u can drive a auto,

If you pass in a manual, you can drive either, but if you pass in an automatic, you can’t drive a manual.
Driving lessons are the same price regardless of the car you will be learning in.
For your safety and the safety of the instructor you will be placed in a car with an automatic to start. If you want to learn how to drive a car with a manual trans then do it after you get your lic.
I would think £20/Hour is about right up there,generally automatic lessons tend to be about £1/hour dearer. Better to learn manual as once you pass you can drive auto as well. Good luck.
